The Kincrome Starter Punch is a short, stout taper punch built to align holes before a fastener or rivet goes in, and to break stubborn pins and rivets loose before a pin punch finishes the job. Hardened and tempered Chrome Vanadium steel and a compact 120mm body give it the rigidity to take heavy hammer blows without bending.

When to Use This Punch
Use the 8mm Kincrome Starter Punch (K9486) to first knock a seized pin, rivet or fastener of around 8 mm loose, or to line up two holes before driving a bolt or rivet home. Because the starter punch is short and stiff it delivers more of the blow to the pin than a long pin punch; once the pin breaks free, swap to a matching long pin punch to push it all the way out.
