The Carbitool TPD 3 1/2 is a 2-flute carbide-tipped raised panel bit for panel doors and decorative edges. Approx. 72mm cutting diameter delivers a full raised profile in a single router table pass. Also available with ball bearing guide as TPD 3 B 1/2.

When to Use This Bit
Choose the TPD 3 1/2 for raised panel work on cabinet and furniture doors where a classic curved profile is required. Always use in a table-mounted router with a minimum 3 HP motor — never hand-held. A router fence is required (use TPD 3 B 1/2 if a bearing guide is preferred). Take multiple light passes and work at a reduced RPM appropriate for the cutter diameter. Compare with TPD 4 1/2 (R936) and TPD 5 1/2 (R937) for different profile shapes.
Pro Tip: Always rout the end grain sections of a panel first, then the long grain edges. This way any tearout at the corners from the end grain cuts is cleaned up by the subsequent long grain pass.
