The Carbitool TPD 5 1/2 is a 2-flute carbide-tipped raised panel bit producing a classic flat bevel profile for panel doors and decorative edges. With a full 3″ cutting diameter it achieves the raised panel effect in one router table pass.

When to Use This Bit
Choose the TPD 5 1/2 for raised panel door and decorative edge work where a flat bevel profile is required. This bit must be used in a table-mounted router with a minimum 3 HP motor — never hand-held. Use a router fence for consistent depth of cut. Take multiple light passes, particularly on hardwoods. For a curved ogee profile compare TPD 3 1/2 (R941) and TPD 6 1/2 (R938). If you need a ball bearing guide version, select the TPD 5 B 1/2.
Pro Tip: Run the bit at a lower RPM than standard — around 10,000–12,000 RPM is appropriate for a 3" diameter cutter. Higher speeds on large-diameter bits create excessive heat and can cause burning on the panel face, especially on hardwoods.
