When to Use This Tool
Use the RCC001 after routing or drilling a hinge mortise, lock recess, or inlay pocket where the corners are rounded and the fitting hardware has square corners. Strike firmly with a mallet directly over the corner location — the chisel registers against the mortise walls and cuts both faces of the corner in one blow. Works on all common cabinet and joinery timbers as well as MDF. Not intended for use in a router or drill; this is a hand/mallet tool only.
Pro Tip: For repeatable results across multiple hinge locations, use a hinge template to rout the mortise first, then follow immediately with the RCC001 to square the corners while the wood fibres are freshly cut and crisp. On hardwood, pre-score the corner with a marking knife before striking the chisel to prevent grain breakout.
