The Festool 491498 guide rail is the most popular length in the FS range, providing 1400mm of precision guidance for plunge saws, routers and jigsaws. It handles cuts on sheet goods up to approximately 1200mm wide — covering most standard panel and door sizes.

- Splinterguard slot — replaceable splinterguard strip sits at the cutting edge to virtually eliminate tear-out on the show face of the workpiece.
- Non-slip cushion strips — adhesive rubber strips on the underside grip the workpiece surface firmly without clamps, preventing rail movement during cuts.
- Smooth-glide top surface — special coating on the topside lets the saw or router slide freely along the rail with minimal friction.
- T-slot accessory channel — bottom groove accepts clamps, stops, angle guides and other accessories for expanded functionality.
- Joinable design — connect multiple rails end-to-end using FS-V joining connectors for cuts longer than a single rail length.
When to Use This Guide Rail
The FS 1400/2 is the standard choice for most workshops. It handles crosscuts on 1200mm-wide sheet goods, rip cuts on doors and panels, and is long enough for most cabinet and furniture work while still fitting in a vehicle. For narrower work, the FS 800/2 (491499) is more manageable. For full-length sheet cuts, join two FS 1400/2 rails or use the FS 2400/2 (491502).
