The Festool 203343 protection pad sits between the backing pad and abrasive mesh discs (such as Granat Net) to prevent the aggressive mesh backing from wearing out the hook-and-loop fastener on your sanding pad. Supplied in a 2-pack, it extends the life of both the backing pad and the abrasives.

- Protects hook-and-loop fastener — the thin pad shields the backing pad hooks from the abrasive mesh backing, preventing premature wear and maintaining disc grip.
- Essential for mesh abrasives — mandatory when using Granat Net, Abranet or other mesh discs, which would otherwise destroy the velcro hooks on the backing pad within a few uses.
- No foam layer — hooks on one side, velour on the other. It does not add cushioning or change the sanding feel — purely a protective barrier.
- 2-pack supply — two pads included so you have a replacement ready when the first wears through.
When to Use This Protection Pad
Install a 203343 protection pad whenever you use mesh abrasives (Granat Net, Abranet or similar) on any 150mm Festool sander. Without it, the mesh backing will quickly shred the hook surface on your backing pad. Remove the protection pad when switching back to standard hook-and-loop abrasive discs. Not an interface pad — for cushioned sanding, use the 203348 (5mm) or 203351 (15mm) interface pads instead.
