Bondhus tools are made in the USA at the company’s Monticello, Minnesota facility. Bondhus has manufactured hex keys since 1917 and is the original inventor of the ball-end hex key. In Australia, Bondhus is distributed by Sutton Tools.

What is Protanium steel and the ProGuard finish?

Protanium is Bondhus’s proprietary high-torque alloy steel, heat treated to be significantly stronger than standard tool steel so the keys resist rounding and breaking under load. The ProGuard finish is a corrosion-resistant coating that protects against rust far better than plain black oxide while keeping a smooth, low-friction surface.

What’s the advantage of a ball-end hex key?

The ball end lets you engage the fastener at an angle of up to around 25 degrees, so you can reach screws that aren’t square-on or that sit behind obstructions. For maximum torque on tight or seized fasteners, use the straight (non-ball) end. We stock ball-end, standard L-wrench, long-arm and T-handle styles so you can match the tool to the access you have.
