Sutton 6.0 Glass & Tile Drill Bit

Part No: D604T0600  |  Barcode: 9311963657974  |  Series: Glass/Tile 5pk

The Sutton D604T0600 is a glass and tile drill, 6.0 arrow-tipped tungsten carbide bit designed for drilling through glazed surfaces — tile, ceramic, porcelain, and glass — without cracking the surface or running off centre. Different geometry to a masonry drill: the tip is ground sharp, not blunt, so it cuts cleanly rather than hammering.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Arrow-tip carbide point — ground to a sharp angle (not the blunt percussion tip used on masonry bits) so it scrapes the glaze cleanly rather than hammering and cracking it.
  • Designed for rotary mode only — never use hammer action on glazed tile; the impact will craze or fracture the surface around the hole.
  • Carbide cutting edge — cuts through glass and ceramic without losing the edge, where HSS drills go blunt in the first hole.
  • Slow speed, water-cooled work — ideal for bathroom retrofits, kitchen splashbacks, and any tile work where the back of the substrate (plasterboard, masonry) needs different drilling.

When to Use This Drill

The Sutton D604T0600 (6.0 glass/tile) is the right tool for any glazed surface — bathroom tile, kitchen splashback, ceramic floor work, porcelain, and glass. Run in rotary mode only. For the masonry behind the tile, switch to a TCT masonry drill in the same size.
Pro Tip: Apply masking tape to the tile face before drilling — the tape gives the bit something to bite without skating across the glaze, and protects the surrounding tile from accidental scratches. Run the drill in rotary mode only at low to medium RPM (~600-800), with light pressure and a wet sponge or constant water trickle to keep the carbide tip cool. The hole will take longer than masonry but will come out clean.
