Accud Magnetic Base Kit — Universal Indicator Stand
Part No: AC-280-000-02 | Barcode: 9346967025009 | Series: Accud Magnetic Bases
The Accud AC-280-000-02 magnetic base kit is a heavy-duty on/off magnetic stand with articulating arm for holding dial or lever indicators at any angle during machine setup and inspection. The magnetic switch locks the base to any ferrous surface, and the fine-adjust arm swings the indicator into position without re-clamping.

Key Features & Benefits
- On/off switchable magnet — lock the base to a steel surface with the lever; release to reposition without lifting against magnetic drag.
- V-grooved base — the magnet bottom grips both flat surfaces (mill tables, chuck faces) and round stock (spindles, bars); versatile across setup tasks.
- Articulating multi-joint arm — two knuckles with a central locking knob; swing the indicator into any position and lock all joints with one fastener.
- Fine-adjust thumb screw — dial in the last millimetre of probe position after the main arm is locked; essential for precise zeroing.
- Universal indicator clamp — fits dial indicators (8mm stem) and dovetail-stem lever indicators with the supplied holder; works with Accud AC-222/225/229 dials and AC-261 lever indicator.
- Rigid construction — won’t deflect under indicator contact pressure; essential for repeatable clocking readings.
When to Use the AC-280-000-02
Reach for the AC-280 magnetic base whenever you need to hold a dial or lever indicator in position on a ferrous surface — clocking a four-jaw chuck, tramming a mill head, inspecting runout on a spindle, or setting up a fixture on the bench. Essentially any precision inspection task where you need both hands free to rotate or move the workpiece while the indicator reads.
Pro Tip: Tighten the arm joints just enough to hold position, not so tight that flexing the arm permanently distorts the joint — an over-tightened magnetic base arm starts wandering under vibration and loses repeatability. The knob lock should feel firm by hand, not wrench-tight.
