Key Features & Benefits

  • DIN1897 stub geometry — short overall length (3xD max cut) gives extra column strength so the drill stays straight in mild steel and stainless without flex.
  • 118° split point — self-centres on hard surfaces, eliminating the need to centre-punch every hole and reducing walking on rounded or curved work.
  • Steam-oxide finish — the blue tempered surface holds cutting lubricant better than bright-finish HSS and helps reduce friction in heavy ferrous drilling.
  • M2 high-speed steel — Sutton’s standard HSS grade for the Blue Bullet line; well-balanced for mixed-material drilling and a good general workshop choice.
  • Helix R30 (N-type) — medium helix for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of metals and plastics.

When to Use This Drill

Reach for Sutton D1860950 when you need a 9.5mm hole through plate, panel or sheet and a jobber-length drill is too long for the job. The stub form gives you a stiffer, more accurate cut on lathes, drill presses and hand drills. For panel beating with TuPoint geometry use the D122/D123 ranges; for deeper holes step up to a Blue Bullet jobber drill.
