Key Features & Benefits
- Locking wing arm — the wing clamps through a slot in the leg and locks the set radius under thumbscrew pressure, preventing the setting from drifting as you swing the arc.
- Hardened divider points — both legs carry precision points that scribe a clean line on steel, alloy or timber and resist wear through repeated use.
- Large fulcrum bearing — the spring-joint design with wide bearing surface prevents sideways leg deflection when you swing wide arcs.
- Fabricated-steel construction — rigid, long-lasting and holds alignment over years of workshop use.
- Precision arcs & circles — dedicated to circle layout where a standard spring divider can slip; essential for bolt-circle marking, plasma-cut templates and large-diameter scribing.
When to Use the PRWC08
Reach for the PRWC08 when you need to scribe a circle or arc with a locked radius — bolt-circle layout on flanges, oxy/plasma-cut templates on plate, or marking concentric features on fabrication work. A standard spring divider can slip; the wing compass locks positively so the radius stays true across a full 360° swing.
Pro Tip: Before scribing a full circle on steel plate, make a small witness mark at the radius first by pressing just one point and rotating — if the point walks or the setting shifts, tighten the wing lock before committing to the full circle. This quick check saves re-layout on expensive plate stock.
