- Splits the nut, not the thread — the chisel-style cutter bears down on the nut face rather than the bolt thread, preserving the thread for reinstallation with a new nut.
- Four sizes covering 9–27mm — common sizes are 9–12mm, 12–16mm, 16–22mm and 22–27mm, covering metric fasteners from approximately M6 to M18 that are found throughout exhaust, braking and suspension systems.
