When to Use This Tap Extractor
Reach for a tap extractor any time a tap shears off in the workpiece. Clear all chips from the broken tap (compressed air helps), insert the extractor fingers into the flutes, slide the sleeve down to the work, then turn with a tap wrench to walk the broken piece out. This particular variant (TE6) covers the 6mm specification.
Pro Tip: Tap extractors work best on cleanly-broken taps with the flutes intact. If the broken tap is shattered or seized hard, you may need to step up to spark erosion or a thread-insert repair — extractors are not magic, they need flute geometry to grip onto.
