A 4.5mm cobalt (HSS-Co5%/M35) jobber-length twist drill supplied in a 10-piece trade pack. The 5% cobalt alloy and 135° split point cut cleanly through stainless steel, alloy steel and aluminium where standard HSS bits overheat and blunt.

- HSS-Co5% (M35) cobalt steel — 5% cobalt is alloyed through the whole bit, not just coated on, so it keeps its edge and shrugs off the heat that dulls standard HSS in stainless and hardened steels.

- Fully ground flutes — precision-ground geometry drills round, on-size holes and clears swarf cleanly for less heat build-up.

When to Use This Drill
Reach for the H-11-008-LC080-P (4.5mm, 10-pack) when you are drilling stainless steel, alloy and mild steel, or aluminium and the heat would cook an ordinary HSS bit. Its 135° split point lets it bite straight onto the mark, so you can start without a pilot hole. The cobalt content makes it the bit to choose for repetitive holes in tough or work-hardening metals where a standard drill would blunt after a handful of holes.
Pro Tip: Cobalt’s heat tolerance is wasted if the bit glazes the hole. On stainless, run a low RPM with firm, constant feed and a drop of cutting fluid — let it cut a continuous chip rather than rub, because rubbing work-hardens the surface and ruins both the hole and the cutting edge.
