Key Features & Benefits

  • 45° Chamfer Geometry — produces clean 45° chamfered edges ideal for mating joints, decorative edge work, and reducing sharp corners on furniture and cabinetry.
  • Built-In Pilot — the integral pilot pin guides the bit along the workpiece edge without requiring a fence or guide bearing, making it quick to set up for freehand and handheld router work.
  • 2-Flute Carbide-Tipped Construction — delivers a clean, smooth chamfer on timber, MDF, and laminates with long service life between sharpenings.
  • 1/4″ Shank — suits standard 1/4″ trim routers and full-size routers, making this a versatile bit for both bench-top and handheld routing tasks.

When to Use This Bit

Choose the T 916 when you need a simple 45° chamfer on edges — for nearly invisible glue joints, softening sharp corners on furniture, or decorative chamfered edges on panels and frames. The built-in pilot makes it a good choice for handheld router work where setting up a fence would be time-consuming. For chamfering with a ball bearing guide (which gives greater precision and suits harder timbers), see the T 916 B (R641) and the broader chamfering range (R637–R644) which covers angles from 5° to 80° from vertical.
Pro Tip: For near-invisible mitre joints, chamfer both mating edges at 45° and apply glue to both faces — the long-grain glue surfaces created by the chamfer give a stronger bond than a standard butt joint.
